The Lusatian Filmshow – lights, camera, action for films from and about Lusatia

From the Spree Forest to the Lusatian Lake District and the heights of the Zittau Mountains, Lusatia not only stands out due to its extremely diverse landscape but also boasts an impressive array of cultural wealth.

The Lusatian Filmshow (Lausitzer FilmSchau / Łužyska filmowa pśeglědka / Łužiska filmowa přehladka) is a short-film contest held in the heart of Lusatia. It kicks off the FilmFestival Cottbus and has been part of the event’s diverse programme for several years.

“By giving the show a German, Lower Sorbian and Upper Sorbian name, we honour the growing enthusiasm for and dedication to film-making throughout the entire region of Lusatia. We also want to promote the Sorbian/Wendish language in the world of film,” states Andreas Stein, Managing Director of the company pool production GmbH, the organiser of the FilmFestival Cottbus. “The new name also clearly shines the spotlight on the fact that bridging borders is inherent to the Lusatian identity.”
