Sorbian Museum Bautzen

Serbski muzej

“Witajće k nam – Welcome!” is how we greet our visitors in the heart of the picturesque old town centre of Budyšin – Bautzen. Our museum is located on the site of Ortenburg Castle, on a plateau high above the river Spree that was formerly home to the tribal castle of the Slavic Milceni. Nowadays, the capital of Upper Lusatia is the cultural centre of the Sorbian people.

Make the most of the opportunity to discover the history and culture of this Slavic minority group, which has been based in the region for more than a thousand years. From traditional Sorbian dress and customs to modern art and music, the exhibitions and events held at the museum offer something for everyone.
